Hello, I don’t know you but
Hello, I don’t know you, but
I think we could get along.
We have so many things in common,
you and I.
I have a body that has needs that must be met to keep it running and healthy
Just like yours.
I have a body that has ways and times it likes to be touched and ways and times it doesn’t like to be touched
Just like yours.
I have a body that has ways of being thought of and looked at that it likes, and ways of being thought of and looked at that it doesn’t like
Just like yours.
I have a heart that feels all the feelings. A heart that opens to compassion and closes to judgment and disconnect – like a flower that turns toward the light and withers in the darkness –
Just like yours.
I have a brain that works all the time and has some thoughts that feel special and unique and important and that I’m proud of and some thoughts that feel common and scary and trifling and shameful.
I have a brain that craves experience and wonder at times and rest and integration at other times
Just like yours.
I have a spirit that seeks meaning, creativity, purpose, peace, and connection and that feels lost, stuck, and lonely sometimes
Just like yours.
You see?
We are so similar
After all.
And I love you.
